Sasa kurilensis is an integral part of the nature reserve's landscape. Its height can reach 1,5−2 meters in open spaces and lighter parts of forests and form difficult to pass tangled vegetation. In narrow river valleys, on the banks of rivers and lakes, on slopes of marine terraces there are grasslands formed by Polygonum sachalinense, Filipendula camtschatica, Senecio cannabifolius, Petasites japonicus.
